The Tirekol Fort is situated in the Tirekol village along the Tirekol river. It was built by the Rajas of Sawantwadi, it was conquered by the Portuguese viceroy Dom Pedro de Almeida in 1746, who later built a chapel dedicated to St. Anthony inside the Fort that occupies most of the available space within the space within the fort.
